Through the 2008 season, we will be featuring a weekly column spotlighting a driver on the Rolling Thunder Modified tour. This week features 2008 rookie and Georgia resdient #19 Johnny Davis

#1. How did you get your start in racing?

I helped a friend build a couple of race cars and a truck as well as helped them at the track. I just found myself really loving being around the whole racing atmosphere.

#2. What honors have you earned so far in your racing career?

I originaly started out racing karts. There I managed to finish in the runner-up position twice.
I even had a 13-race winning streak going on for me at one time.

#3. Why did you get into racing?

I had a good friend pass away in late 2006 and he made me promise to get back into racing. I'm very glad he did that.

#4. What other series/divisions in racing have you competed in the past?

I started out racing karts 15 years ago and raced for about 5 years. Last June I began racing open wheels.

#5. What do you do as a day job?

I run a business that builds aggregate plants (rock quarrys).

#7. How do you like the feel of being part of the "Georgia Contingency" of drivers who compete on the tour?

It has been fun, there are a lot of long road trips, but we enjoy them.

#8. You have had a lot of help from 3-time Lanier modified champion Darrell Bryson, how has that improved your rookie season and what kind of tips has he been giving you?

Darrel has been great and has a lot of patience. He does the set ups for the car and gives me a car that I'm able to drive. Once he makes the setup we don't make a lot of changes to it. He also does a great job as he talks to me on the radio. His best tip to me has been to have fun and not to beat myself up.

#9. The RTM Tour is beginning to expand, last year we went into South Carolina, how big of a deal would it be to have an RTM event in The Peach State?  If it ever happened, which Georgia track would you enjoy the most competing at?

That would be great! I'd really like my fellow Georgians to see the RTM cars and drivers compete. As for tracks, I would have to say that I'd like to see the tour race at either Lanier National Speedway or Peach State Speedway.

#10. Finally, what goals do you have for you rookie season?

I would love to get a win, or at least have some top-five finishes.
