6/18: RTM officials have added an extra special event to the August 9th race at East Carolina Motor Speedway. In addition to the normal 75 lap feature, which is now going to be a double points race, there will be a special 15-lap race for all willing crew chiefs. The winner of the race will win a $100 prize, a trophy, as well as bragging rights.

Through the 2008 season, we will be featuring a weekly column spotlighting a driver on the Rolling Thunder Modified tour. This week features last year's runner up in series points and currently one of the drivers tied for first in the points, Doug Paasch, driver of the #2 Paasch Motorsports Chevrolet.
#1. How did you get your start in racing?
I was basically born into racing. It all started with my Grandfather in 1948. My father started racing at the age of 16 and has been in it for 42 years, He built his own cars and also built them for other people in Wisconsin. I started out by helping my Dad build cars and went to the races to help.
#2. What honors have you earned so far in your racing career?
I started racing with the RTM in 2004. I finished 5th in points and I got the Rookie of the Year award. In 2005-2007, I've finished 2nd in points.
#3. Why did you get into racing?
I got into racing because my of my Grandfather and my Dad. I have always had a passion for racing.
#4. What other series/divisions in racing have you competed with in the past?
I have raced Street Stock and Super Stock Divisions at Concord Motorsports Park and I also raced a limited schedule with the Hooters Pro-Cup Series.
#5. What do you do as a day job?
I work at home in the shop.
#7. Last race you managed to snap a long winless streak by taking the checkered flag at Motor Mile. How big of a relief was it to return to Victory Lane after such a long absence?
It was a huge relief for the whole family. The team needed the win to get back into the points race. It was a perfect Mother's Day present!!
#8. You seem to be one of the most consistent teams in the RTM field each and every race. What keys does Paasch Racing follow to achieve this week in and week out?
We work long hard hours. It makes a big difference with my Dad having alot of racing experience. The support that I get from my family is the biggest part of being consistent.
#9. You have a car that definitely sticks out in the field, the big bright orange car is hard to miss. Is there any significance to why you chose to run a big orange car?
I chose an orange car because my Dad drove an orange car during his racing career in Wisconsin and because my Mom loves orange and blue!!
#10. Four races into the '08 season and again it is Doug Paasch and AJ Winstead atop the point standings. Last year you finished runner-up to AJ in the championship standings. What will it take for the orange deuce to sit atop the standings and ultimately win the 2008 points championship at the end of the season?
Stay as consistant as we have been and keep working hard.
